He obtained his BSc in Neuroscience from University College Dublin, MSc & PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He has authored 15+ peer-reviewed articles developing behavioral tests to study psychiatric illnesses in rodents and humans. Having most enjoyed the publishing process while researching, Ciarà n relocated to London to pursue an Editorial career at BMC Series. He is committed to promoting open access, robust, and reproducible science at BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, BMC Rheumatology, and BMC Sports Science, Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Leping Li
Dr. Li is a full professor in the mechanical and biomedical engineering programs at the University of Calgary. His recent research is focused on the mechanics and mechanobiology of articular cartilage of human and animal knee joints, using both computational and experimental methods. His research contributions include the development of a fibril-reinforced theory of articular cartilage, and the investigation of fluid pressure and flow in the cartilaginous tissues within intact knee joint loading conditions. One of his ongoing research projects is finite element simulation of virtual knee joint constructed with statistical shape modeling, which may help extend the current understanding of knee joint mechanics to a large population. He has graciously devoted substantial time to peer review of journal papers and grant applications during his tenure at Calgary. He joined the editorial board in 2015.
Umile Giuseppe Longo (MD, PhD, MSc) is Full Professor and Consultant in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery at University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome (Italy). He has been the recipient of several prestigious national and international awards and travelling fellowships in the field of orthopaedic sports medicine, joint replacement and regenerative medicine. Prof Longo is author of more than 300 peer reviewed manuscripts, 2 books, and more than 80 chapters published in international books. He joined the editorial board of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders in 2009. His main clinical and research interests include orthopaedic sports medicine, regenerative medicine and joint replacement.
Ali Mobasheri is President of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) and Professor of Musculoskeletal Biology in the Research Unit of Medical Imaging, Physics and Technology in Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oulu in Finland. Ali holds the position of Chief Researcher in the State Research Institute Centre for Innovative Medicine in Vilnius, Lithuania and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and the Departments of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at University Medical Centre Utrecht in the Netherlands.
Ali has authored more than 300 papers and served several editorial boards. He was educated at Dulwich College London, Imperial College London, the University of Toronto and the University of Oxford, where he obtained his doctorate from Wolfson College Oxford. His current H-index is 59 and he is ranked as one of the top 10 leading experts in the world on osteoarthritis on expertscape.com.
Ara Nazarian
My primary focus is on translational studies at Harvard Medical School, where we can identify an unmet clinical need and set out to find appropriate solutions. Relying on my biomechanics, bioimaging and animal models expertise, I have forged partnerships with clinical and research collaborators to establish a cohesive and results oriented network. Specialties: Orthopedic Biomechanics and bioimaging, mechanobiology, animal models of disease and intervention, project and personnel management.
Together, we have produced a body of work, consisting of over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 2 books, more than 15 patents and patent applications, 5 startups and over 200 abstracts and conference proceedings. I have been Editorially involved with BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders since 2019.
Jason Pui Yin Cheung has been an editor with BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders since 2017. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology, The University of Hong Kong. He is a spine surgeon with research interests in paediatric growth, spinal deformity, lumbar degenerative diseases, management of cervical myelopathy and orthopaedic infections. He has authored over 180 peer-reviewed articles in these disciplines. He is obtained his MBBS in 2007, Masters of Medical Sciences (2012), Master of Surgery (2017), Postgraduate Diploma in Molecular and Diagnostic Pathology (2018), and Doctor of Medicine (2019) from The University of Hong Kong. He is committed to providing a fair and robust editorial process for authors.
Bart Staal studied Physiotherapy (BSc) in Breda and Human Movement Sciences (MSc) at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and graduated in 1996. He further specialized in Clinical Epidemiology and completed his PhD-thesis at the same institution in 2003 researching the effects of a graded activity program for airline workers with low back pain. He currently works as a senior research fellow at the Radboud University Medical Centre and as a professor of Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation at the HAN University of Applied Sciences, both in Nijmegen the Netherlands. His research themes mainly include: effectiveness of physiotherapy, musculoskeletal disorders, occupational health, sports injuries and guideline development. He was an Associate Editor of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders since 2010 and became Section Editor of the section Rehabilitation, hysical therapy and occupational health in 2014.
Kuang-Ting Yeh
Kuang-Ting is an Orthopedic surgeon in Taiwan. He obtained his PhD in Institute of Medical Science from Tzu-Chi University in Hualien, Taiwan. His research has focused on the spine alignment and surgery correlated with the patients’ life qualities. He is now committed to doing research on the spine alignment, surgical complication prevention, osteoporosis, and arthroscopic wrist surgery. He is now a Senior Board Member of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and an associate professor of Tzu-Chi University.
